Rebecca Thomas - Manager, Operations
Rebecca Thomas manages the crucial interface between World Wise clients and its team of global experts. Her abiding interest in global cultures has taken her to diverse locations including trekking across Patagonia, an intensive James Joyce study in Dublin, and hiking through Waimea canyon in Kaua'i. Prior to her position at World Wise, she worked in Charleston, South Carolina, where she was a resident writer at a historical plantation as well as a contributor to several local publications. She graduated from Hamilton College, where she studied Creative Writing and Religious Studies.
Rebecca is currently collaborating on a book with Sunita on key global cultural concepts.
Dr. Jian Zhang - China Director (Beijing)
A Director of the company's "Beyond Borders" China-India Programs. In the fall 2007, Dr. Zhang will also assume a teaching position at "Beida", China's prestigious Peking University. A regular contributor to China's most popular newspaper Southern Weekend, he writes a weekly column on Western views of China. He was an editor of Strategy and Management, a most influential policy journal in China, from 1997 to 2001. In 1999, he was the Media Leader for the Beijing Summit of the World Economic Forum. In 2001, he was the selected China expert at the transcontinental "Symposium of East Asian Security (SEAS)," organized jointly by US Department of State and US Pacific Command. Dr. Zhang obtained his doctorate from Columbia University with a B.A from Peking University.
Dr. Sergio Trindade- Brazil Director
Dr. Trindade has extensive experience in technology, energy, climate change and environmental consulting and management, with a variety of organizations all over the world. Jointly, with many other contributors to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change – IPCC, he is a co-winner of the Nobel Peace Prize for 2007. Dr. Jasmine Gartner
- Europe Director (London)
Born and raised in New York, Jasmine Gartner has always had an interest in exploring other cultures. This led to her living in Paris and London, travelling in South America and Europe, as well as to her earning a doctorate in Cultural Anthropology from the University of New Mexico.
Since earning her PhD, she has taught Cross-Cultural studies for international business majors and has conducted cross cultural sensitivity training sessions. In addition to her work as a professor and trainer, Jasmine has also written forThe New Statesman, The Miami Herald and Oxford University Press. Always interested in keeping at least one foot in the non-academic world, Jasmine joined World Wise in 2008.
Johann Scheving - Business Development
Responsible for managing the infrastructure and operational systems of World Wise, Johann has over twenty years of wide-ranging experience in marketing communication, as well as a broad executive and entrepreneurial background in corporate strategy, management IT and operations management, marketing and new product development. He completed his studies in Business Administration at the University of Iceland, Reykjavik and has lived in Iceland, Denmark, Tanzania and curently resides in the USA.
