World Wise Women Leaders
As women gain leadership positions in increasingly complex global partnerships, they benefit greatly from coaching and counseling that is customized for their specific needs. In many instances, the rules and roles for women in nations large and small often turn out to be contrary to commonly accepted perceptions.
World Wise has designed and administered numerous programs around the world in support of women’s professional and societal interests.
In 2005, one of the world’s largest multinationals approached World Wise with a question -- was it doing enough to prepare and support its women managers when they represent the company overseas?
World Wise conducted a Needs Assessment and designed a training intervention that covered 40+ countries. This included the organization of a Women’s Global Leadership Forum that focused on a country-wide analysis of the various spheres of influence -- political, professional and economic -- where women assert leadership in countries around the world and examination as to which skills are required to further their impact across cultures.
The following are a representative sample of testimonials from women executives following the Forum:
“An A+. Good speakers, very knowledgeable…..solid communication skills; good historical and current perspective on each of the countries.”
“Definitely worth my time. I would even convince my boss that it would be worth more of my time. Understanding the cultures you will encounter in your work can only improve your effectiveness.
Moreover, as was stated in the course, the world economy is changing fast and countries will focus much more on pleasing the new giants of Asia whose economies are thriving, making our job more challenging. The Western world will have to work so much harder to negotiate in the new global economy.”
“I think everyone who will work, travel, or go on an assignment to regions outside the US should go through this course. Basically, we work for a Global Company and each of us will at some point in our career deal with other regions. Most of the time, this will be done over the phone, email, etc. with very few face to face encounters. But, understanding someone's culture and how they communicate will be a great help to get the job done more efficiently.”
“I also think that this type of training should also be offered to both and men and women at all levels. Men still occupy most of the key decision positions and will be first to define and discuss certain projects.”
